@Odette Goze, Dog food is a commodity of a dog and not the Senior Citizen. The discount is purposed to be consumed by the Senior Citizen itself. There is a ruling on “No Double Discounts” which means that the consumer can only choose one discount – either the promo discount or the senior citizen discount.

Malalaking companies po eto, even mercury.

Pero they still insisted that its not included daw..

In Mercury drug Robinson metro east nman the cashier told me that they won’t give us discount next time, my son’s disability daw should be rotten not his sickness!! My son have cerebral palsy ano pang disability ang kailangan nla? It’s written nman in card that he have neurological disability..

We don’t usually use his card because of this kind of things, we don’t want to make a screen but establishment like supermarkets, hospitals and drugstores should follow the pwd law, karapatan nla yun. And btw some small hospitals in Pasig City is not aware of this law, Senior Citizen discount lng daw ang alam nla. I told them that’s not our problem anymore it’s either give us discount or we’ll file complaint sa City Hall..

I bought Mash Potato for my 3 year old son who is not with me because I just came from work.

The order is Take Out, but they require that my son should be present before I can avail the discount.

Based on the statement above, I can avail as an authorized representative. But they declined it, they said it’s only available for delivery.

Please let me know what should be the ruling for this.

Thanks

I bought this Marby two loaves in one pack and their excuse is that it was a promo and it’s not programmed in their computer, but I buy the same bread from Puregold Holy Spirit Drive and Puregold allows 5% discount. They also don’t give discount to dog foods which Puregold includes in the allowed commodities that are given 5% discount. Shopwise management will give a lot of excuses not to give discounts. Shopwise also don’t allow customers to be given 5% while at the cashier. They’ll tell the customers to go to Customer Service Desk to get the 5% discount. Note, this is the usual practice of Shopwise, they’ll waste the customer’s time; maybe hoping that the customer who are in a hurry won’t pursue getting the discount. I hope you will call the attention of the Management of Shopwise. They are not abiding by the laws protecting the Persons with Disabilities.

@Leo Lasaga, i take it sir, you presented to mercury drug your PWD ID and purchase booklet.because if so,they have no reason not to give us discount. i had similar experience with SOUTHDRUG-IMUS, they said they havent applied for them to give PWDs discount.well it’s not our problem.there is a law. i wrote/reported this to our mayor on such refusal and did not go back to southdrug-imus. the only problem i have with MERCURY DRUG is, i cannot buy substitute medicine of my hypertension maintenance if my prescribed (brand)med is out of stock, considering the generic name is written on my prescription. because also by law, doctors are required to put the generic name of the brand medicine. how will the doctors know if said drug is out of stock on such time a purchase is made?duh
